Poisoning Pines and Erica Check

OHA environs

Wednesday 26 Nov 08

Two pines growing near the OHA track were treated with glyphosate. Some 300 metres of New Town Rivulet was checked for Erica with two patches being found and removed. Most did not have much in the way of flowers although those in the sunnier locations did.

We met David from the Bushcrew and proceeded to walk to the higher of the two pines growing near the OHA track. After cutting a ridge around the trunk it was filled with glyphosate and the same treatment was given to the larger pine on the banks of New Town Rivulet.

Whilst three returned to the car the other two checked the creek for 300 metres or so up wards, finding two patches of Erica, which were removed. Most did not have much in the way of flowers although those in the sunnier locations did.

Lenah Valley Sites

Tuesday 4 Nov 08

Prior to commencing work on the main site we removed stray Broom from near the creek at the park entrance. The remaining Gorse in the northern edge of the park boundary was cleared as was a small patch further up the hill. Some Gorse left from near a sprayed site further south was finally removed. In this location a few Broom and Erica were located and cleared.
